About JC Tree Experts

Our Story

Nearly Four Decades
of Honest Work

JC Tree Experts was founded in San Jose in 1986 by Javier Castaneda Sr. and his wife. What started as a small, local tree service has grown into one of the South Bay's most trusted names in professional arboriculture — built entirely on word-of-mouth, honest pricing, and quality work.

Today, Javier Sr. runs the business alongside his son, Javier Castaneda Jr., who serves as Field Operations Manager and holds ISA Certified Arborist credentials. Together, they lead a team that shares the same values the company was founded on: integrity, craftsmanship, and care for the community.

We serve a 30-mile radius around San Jose, covering the entire South Bay Area. We work with homeowners, HOAs, commercial property managers, and municipalities.

"We'll never pressure or scare you into unnecessary services. Our goal is to give you an honest evaluation and the best solution for your trees."

Why It Matters

What ISA Certification
Means for You

The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist credential is the gold standard in tree care. To earn it, an arborist must demonstrate expertise in tree biology, diagnosis, pruning, risk assessment, and more — and then maintain it through ongoing education.

When you hire an ISA Certified Arborist, you're hiring someone who understands how trees actually work — not just how to cut them down. That means better decisions about whether removal is truly necessary, proper pruning that promotes long-term health, and accurate identification of pests, disease, and structural problems.

  • Science-based pruning standards (ANSI A300)
  • Accurate risk assessment and hazard identification
  • Proper tree preservation during construction
  • Ethical recommendations — no unnecessary work

What We Stand For

Our Values

🌿
Integrity

We give honest assessments. We never recommend work that isn't necessary, and we never quote a price we wouldn't pay ourselves.

🌳
Sustainability

We use spikeless climbing, offer free mulch from chipped material, and work to preserve trees whenever removal isn't truly necessary.

🏡
Community

We're proud to be a Bay Area family business. We offer discounted services for seniors and actively support local parks and green spaces.

🦅
Wildlife Awareness

We check for active bird nests before beginning any tree work, honoring nesting seasons and protecting local wildlife habitats.

🔬
Science-Based

Our arborists follow ANSI A300 standards and ISA best practices. Proper technique protects trees — and the properties around them.

🤝
Faith & Family

Family-owned and faith-guided since 1986. We treat every customer's property the way we would treat our own.

Our Commitment

We Check for Birds
Before Every Job

Before any tree work begins, our crew inspects for active bird nests. If nesting birds are present, we pause work until the nesting season ends — even if it means rescheduling. California's trees are home to hundreds of bird species, and we take that responsibility seriously.
